Not Your Average set, Houndstooth Be Told

SUIT UP FOR THE STREETS

I’m really feeling the gingham and houndstooth patterns right now. Maybe because summer is approaching and I really want to have a picnic right now. Houndstooth is more of a fall pattern; feels more dark and moody than gingham. I particularly am feeling the houndstooth in this unique suit-y set. It’s got the feels of a suit, but vibes of the street.

I was first sold on the skirt, especially the pattern belt. It’s a nice twist for a structured skirt, but the houndstooth jacket is a bomber style which I haven’t seen before and definitely more street-style. I wanted to play up the monochrome the first time and opted for a high-neck black top underneath. Though for a more street look, I decided a bucket hat was the choice.

The set is so much that my scene-stealer Jessica Buurman boots aren’t even the highlight. Although, next time I would go with some classic black chelsea boots. The set is enough attention.

I also love how versatile both of these pieces are. The skirt feels more classic and can work for a more business-formal look, but the jacket is made for street style. I can see myself styling the jacket separately with black jeans and some bright colored tops underneath.

Mango Gingham Set

One thing I would suggest is not using leggings as tights. This should be a given, but I still went with this mistake. You can tell that my legs look thicker in the leggings and looks a bit odd in the boots. Tights have a way of slimming it down, and you have no need to wear socks.
